Organisation Begins Youth Training Scheme
A Non-Governmental Organisation in the country known as Patriotism International has said that its skills acquisition programme in Rivers State is aimed at encouraging patriotic attitude and self-reliance among youths in the state.
The coordinator of the organisation, Mr. Donatus Sunny Ntuenibok, who disclosed this in a telephone interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, on Monday, said that the first phase of the free skills acquisition programme would commence in August 2011 in the state adding that the second phase would cover other Niger Delta States.
According to him, the programme targets youths not below the age of 16 to 17 years stressing that it would cover areas such as computer operation, fashion and design, beads and hat making.
Others include events management and decoration, catering and mass media related skills among others.
Mr. Ntuenibok further said that the organisation is partnering with the Federal Ministry of Employment, Labour and Productivity as well as reputable establishments such as Edmark International, Leadway Assurance Company, Lagos Aviation and Maritime Business School and Sacred Heart Parish in Port Harcourt.
He expressed optimism that beneficiaries of the programme would be skillfully empowered to gain employment in the labour market and also create opportunity for others to be self-reliance.
Mr. Ntuenibok, therefore, appealed to the people of Rivers State especially youths to ultilise the opportunities offered by the free skill acquisition programme by participating massively while commending the authorities of Sacred Heart Church for sensitising its members towards the programme.
