‘Budget Ministry, Live Wire Of Govt’
The Rivers State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning has been described as the engine room of the government that would move the state to a greater height.
The immediate past State Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mr. Gogo Levi Charles stated this at a get together organised in his honour by the Ministry’s staff recently.
Mr. Charles said that the ministry was responsible for the preparation of the Rivers State Annual Budget as well as ensure that budget implementation was in accordance with the lay down policy of the State Government.
He stated that as a skilled Ministry, his vision was to take the state to a higher level and urged the management staff to impact the knowledge they have acquired to the younger ones.
The former Commissioner charged the staff to work as a team in order to achieve the desired goal, stressing that he was able to achieve his objectives through their co-operation and appealed to them to maintain the tempo.
He expressed happiness for his association with the staff of the Ministry and advised them to put in their best to ensure that the Ministry looked different from other ministries in the state. He disclosed that he learnt a lot from the ministry and commended them for their co-operation, as well as the honour done him and his family.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Sir Awoye H. Bob-Manuel, thanked Mr. Charles for establishing good working relationship in the ministry, adding that he introduced management and village meetings as a forum where staff discusses their problems and proffer a lasting solutions to them.
Sir Bob-Manuel pointed out that their purpose of being at the party was to appreciate and celebrate the good quality leadership of the Commissioner, stressing that with his administration, the Ministry achieved a lot.
