Hockey Umpires, Officials Ready For Garden City Games
Chairman of Rivers State Hockey Association (RSHA) Mr. Omi Brown has said that the recent Hockey tournament held in the state was put in place to test the ability of the technical officials, umpires, trainees and judges ahead of the 17th National Sports Festival scheduled to hold from June 27 July 11, this year.
According to him, Team Rivers is ready for the festival as they were used to play the tournament towards conditioning the players for the festival.
He continued that outstanding and tested officials umpires and trainees who went through the coaches course for the festival were also used in the competition.
Brown, who is also a member of the Nigeria Hockey Jederation (NHF), explained that, the officials were used in order to test their performances and what they have learnt from their train exercise.
“Those who performed well will be useful in the forthcoming National fiesta tagged “Garden City Games 2011”, he said.
