Fallen Standard Of Education Blamed On Indiscipline
Lack of discipline in Schools has been identified as one major factor responsible for the fallen standard in education in the country.
The Principal of the Rivers State University of Education, Demonstration Secondary School Ndele, Mr. Chris Elechi who made the observation Thursday in an interview with The Tide on Sunday said a teacher who refuses to teach the students well as well as a parent who refuses to provide the needed text books for his child or ward indirectly aid and abet examination malpractice since such child will not be prepared to write examinations independently.
“We teach our students to be independent intellectually. That’s why we don’t record exam malpractices both in internal and external examinations; he said.
The principal regretted that in the state, most teachers and principals have shunned their responsibilities and reminded them that the profession they belong to is edifying and filled with blessings both here and after here.
Mr. Elechi who stated that his school continues to get recommendation from examination monitors and examination bodies for exemplary approach and performance attributed the success story to the uncompromising stand on discipline and high academic training.
“We still expel and suspend students unlike most schools in the state. Cultism, truancy and other acts of immorality are not tolerated here.
We make sure our teachers do their job, no absenteeism and keep strick record of teachers movement, he maintained.
He said it pains me so much when I see professionals in teaching field aiding and abeting exam malpractice because they don’t consider that those they aid through such ways will graduate as half baked and turn out to teach our children tomorrow”.
The Principal promised that in the face of challenges particularly near total neglect, the school shall continue to brace the trail as a demonstration secondary school through hard work and dedication to duty.
