Babies Sales Worry Stakeholders…Petition FG
Stakeholders have urged for a review of adoption cases in the country to check the high rate of illegal sales of babies in the country.
A lecturer at the University of Calabar, College of Medicine, Dr Bassey Edet made the call in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt.
Dr Edet said that the business is thriving because nothing concrete has been done to deal with offenders and blamed the incident on some women who deliver babies out of wedlock as well as young girls who are in the habit of going to doctors for abortion.
He used the occasion to call on the National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to evolve measure to check the trend, while parents should be vigilant during delivery.
