Rivers Youth Assembly Drums Support For Akpabio
A youth group in Rivers State, the Rivers State Youth Leaders Assembly, has thrown its weight behind the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, in his bid to salvage the Niger Delta region.
The Assembly also passed a vote of confidence on Akpabio for his commitment to the growth and development of the region.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Ambassador Prince Tonye Jeminimiema, expressed the support in an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt, yesterday.
Jeminimiema, who was part of the delegates that passed a vote of confidence on Akpabio at a stakeholders’ meeting in Yenagoa on Saturday night, described the Senate President as a man with a golden heart who is willing to bring uncommon development to the region.
He said there was more to benefit from the Presidency through the office of the Senate President, and called on Niger Delta stakeholders across board to give their unwavering support to Akpabio.
“This is the time for the people of the Niger Delta to work together and support their own to succeed, irrespective of ethnicity, religion or political affiliation, as the development of the region supersedes everything else”, he said.
The youth leader urged the people of the region to liaise with their State governors and the National Assembly representatives on how they can synergise with the Senate President to get the listening ears of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and attract development to the region.
