LG Boss Donates Free Buses To Schools
The Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Hon Anengi Barasua Wilcox, has made history by donating free buses to schools in the local government.
By this singular gesture, Hon Wilcox remains the first chairman in the annals of Rivers State to donate free buses to schools.
This is barely one week after she commissioned impactful projects as part of her one year in office.
The projects commissioned by the Rivers State Chief of Staff, Engr Emeka Woke included Abraham Hart bridge, Bishop Gabriel Pepple road ,reconstruction of Bonny council store, reconstruction of customary court ,Bonny motor park and many more.
Commissioning the free school buses, the Rivers State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amb. Desmond Akawor said the party is pleased with the performance of the council chairman, describing her one year in office as impactful.
The free buses donated by the Anengi Wilcox administration to schools in Bonny will run between the hours 6:30 to 4 pm on daily basis.
Unveiling the free school buses, Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Prof Prince Chinedu Mmom described the feat achieved by the Bonny council chairman as a positive step to improve educational standard in the area.
Prof Mmom admitted that the chairman has made the governor proud by investing in education of Bonny children.
Earlier in her speech, the Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Hon Anengi Barasua Wilcox said she will continue to embark on projects that have direct bearing on the people.
She said the motive for the free buses was aimed at reducing the burden on parents.
She promised to complement the efforts of her principal, Governor Nyesom Wike’ at the grassroots.
The council chairman said the recent infrastructural award given his principal by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government is an indication that the Rivers State Governor remains the best.
