PCC Seeks Collaboration With Local Government Councils
The Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission (PCC), Rivers State, Dr Alpheaus Paul-Worika, has restated the commission’s determination to investigate cases of administrative injustice in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.
Paul-Worika made this declaration when he visited the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Council, Sir Allwell Ihunwo in his office at Port Harcourt City Council, Port Harcourt.
The PCC commissioner, intimated the Mayor of the mandates of the commission, one of which was to investigate complaints and resolve conflict, and disputes without necessarily going to a court of law.
He emphasised that the Act establishing PCC, Section 5 of the PCC Act, mandates the commission to ensure administrative justice at all tiers of government, adding that local government councils and the commission should work as a team to address all forms of social and administrative infractions.
Paul-Worika appealed to the Mayor of Port Harcourt City to create an office and provide office space in the local government council for the Public Complaints commission to enable the people have easy access to the services available at the commissionfor complainants.
Responding, the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Sir Allwell Ihunnwo, assured the PCC commissioner and his team of the willingness of the council to supportfederal establishments and also promised to look into the request of the PCC for an office.
