UPTH Joint Schools Matriculate 302 Students
The management of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Joint Schools has matriculated a total of 302 students into their 2020/2021 academic session.
Speaking at the second matriculation ceremony held at the Hospital Field at the weekend, Chief Medical Director,(CMD), Prof Henry Ugboma said the idea behind the schools is to train and encourage human capital development in the society.
He noted that the driving force for revolution and improvements in the hospital was based on human capital development.
Represented by Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee ( CMAC), Prof Lucky Onotai who doubled as Chairman, Joint Schools Board, Ugboma said investment in training, academic staff, recruitments, provision of modern facilities and infrastructural expansion has remained unparalleled.
The CMD assured the Parents of the students that their investments in the programme would be rewarding, and charged the intakes to take their studies seriously.
“For the Parents and guardians, let me reassure you that your investments today will indeed be rewarding”
He also called for more funding of the schools for greater learning and expansions to accommodate more courses and students.
Prof Ugboma noted that three new additional schools would be added to the School of Post Basic Nursing in the next academic session to accommodate more in takes,
The CMD listed the Schools as Mental Health, Peri- Operative and Intensive Care.
Earlier, Chairman, UPTH Joint Schools Board, Prof Lucky Onotai appealed to the students to take their academics seriously and shun all manner of social vices.
He charged the academic staff to model the students to become fully compliant with the ethos of excellent conduct and learning.
Onotai listed the Schools as Post Basic Nursing ,School of Health Information Management, School of Social Development and Occupational Therapy.
