Crisis Rocks NNPC Chapter Of PENGASSAN
The post election crisis rocking a chapter of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association (PENGASSAN) is yet to abate, The Tide can authoritatively report.
This followed the recent resignation of the Chairman of the association, Research and Development chapter of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Terry Nisakpo.
The Tide gathered that the resignation of Comrade Nisakpo is sequel to a suit instituted against the National President of PENGASSAN and others by an aggrieved member, Soyeibo Fubara at the National Industrial Court (NIC) in Port Harcourt, challenging the legality of the March 20 elections.
The claimant, who is seeking the nullification of the said election that brought in Nisakpo as the chapter chairman of the association in the suit billed for hearing today, alleged constitutional breaches in the conduct of the elections.
The claimant among other reliefs, seeks “A declaration that by virtue of rule 19.5 of the PENGASSAN Constitution 2013 as amended, Nisakpo was ineligible to contest the March 20, 2018 elections conducted by the Port Harcourt zonal executive committee.
However, Nisakpo was reported to have thrown in the towel over the controversies surrounding his election at an emergency congress meeting of the association in Port Harcourt, where he announced his resignation and dissolution of all appointments made by him.
