Group Donates Items To Elderly Home In PH
A socio-cultural group
under the aegis of Nyemoni Iriawo Ogbo of Abonnema in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Rivers State has donated various items to the Home for the Elderly, Harbour Road, Port Harcourt.
Speaking while presenting the items, the President of the group, Lady Fyne Thom-Manuel said they decided to visit the home to show their love for the elderly people.
According to her, the Abonnema-based humanitarian organisation is in Port Harcourt for the passion they have for the less privileged, especially the elderly, stressing that the group would continue to do the needful for the service of humanity.
The President appreciated the efforts of the sisters in-charge of the Home for their selfless services and care for the inmates, and enjoined them to keep it up, while praying God to continue to give them the courage to take good care of the elderly in the home.
She also appealed to other well meaning individuals and organizations to assist the home in order to give the inmates a sense of belonging.
Responding, the sister in-charge of the Home, Rev Sister Jane Raphael Abose, who was represented by Pauline Korie thanked members of the Nyemoni Iriawo Ogbo of Abonnema for their gesture and prayed God to protect and bless them, while calling on other organizations to borrow a leaf from the group.
Items donated during the visit include cartons of Indomie, toiletries, clothings bag of rice, beverages, carton of biscuit, grandmalt, tomatoes, eggs, vegetable oil among others.
