Group Donates Educational Materials To School
The Centre for Develop
ment Support Initiative (CEDSI) a non-governmental organisation in the Niger Delta has donated books and other educational materials worth millions of Naira to community Secondary School Amadi Ama in the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area.
Some of the books donated include, student Reading pack, the basic connection, Art Express and Discover skills for life, everyday Maths, Basic Science 1-3, Christian Religious knowledge, Maths diaries and Maths tools for practice.
Others are Maths Reading strategies, Taas practice Test, Everyday Maths, Maths Extend your thinking, Maths Assessment Guide and Maths step, Maths Trouble shooting, Reading and Writing Workbook at well as a book shelf.
Country Director of the Centre, Dr. (Mrs) Mina Ogbanga sued that the gesture was in fulfillment of the promises earlier made to the school.
She expressed confidence that the books would fast-track the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 3,5 and 17.
She also described the gesture as a prelude to the commencement of the institutionalization of Mina Ogbanga awards for overall best male and female students in the state, overall best in English, overall best in mathematics and overall best Male and female teachers.
The country Director said that CEDSI would continue to support the enhancement of libraries across the state, set up school club, to be known as “Club 17” to further promote and actualize the educational growth, ensure youth participation in major competitions or events that would enhance their capacities amongst others.
Ogbanga said that the activities of the organisation would be felt both in the public and private educational institutions across the Niger Delta.
According to her, schools in the region would be supported with standard libraries to encourage reading culture.
Responding the principal of Community Secondary School Amadi-Ama, Mrs Elizabeth B. Sofiri Brown thanked the centre for the gesture.
