Monarch Seeks Recognition Of Odegwu Chieftaincy Stool
The paramount ruler of
Odegwu kingdom in Emohua Local Government Area of the State, HRH Ohna David Onuigwe has made a passionate appeal to Governor Nyesom Wike to give recognition to the traditional stool of the Odegwu kingdom in a bid to properly align the area in the government’s scheme of things.
Though he was not specific about the classification of the stool, Onuigwe urged the government to classify it in accordance with the available laws or status of the state.
In an interview with newsmen in his area, the royal father thanked the state government for its disposition to the traditional institution and called for sustained efforts.
Onuigwe who described the state as peaceful, said that his people would not relent in contributing to the peaceful co-existence of the state no matter the height of distraction.
He recalled that he ascended the yet-to-be recognised stool sometime in 2012 after the demise of his predecessor, and pledged to work towards upliftment and growth of the community.
The Nyewe Eli Odegwu Kingdom also called on the governor, to consider the construction of the Ovogo-Rumuewhor-Rumuji road in order to alleviate the plight of the people.
Meanwhile, the royal father has appealed to the youths to be law abiding during the yuletide celebration so as to have a hitch-free festivities.
Earlier, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ikwerre Traditional Rulers Promotion Committee (ITRPC), Dr Paul Waowhor, said the Odegwu kingdom chieftaincy stool was long over due for recognition following the population of the community.
He reasoned that the regent may not receive the deserved respect from his people if the stool was not given a government attention.
Waowhor noted that the recognition of Odegwu chieftaincy stool would pave way for the people of the area and government to be properly linked for collective goal.
