RSSDA Partners Groups On Sustainable Peace
The Rivers State Sustain
able Development Agency (RSSDA) says it will partner relevant groups to ensure sustainable peace in the state.
The Executive Director of the agency, Mr. Noble Pepple, who disclosed this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the agency and the Nigerian Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP), said that the agency was committed to building strong relationship with others to ensure sustainable development in the state.
Pepple said that the agency was involved in several programmes such as, agriculture and skills acquisition to lift people out of poverty.
He said that the RSSDA was delighted to work with NSRP to consolidate on prevailing peace in Rivers communities, stressing that the partnership will not only bring good benefits to the people, but will enable the agency achieve its set goal.
According to him, part of the strategies of the agency is to work with others, stressing that many of the agency’s programmes were done in partnership with other investors.
“Our mandate is to work to improve livelihoods through different programmes.
“Thus, partnership will help RSSDA to deal with issues of conflict. We look forward to a very productive relationship”. Pepple said.
He further said that apart from conflict resolution, RSSDA also needs their experiences to achieve results in various areas.
Speaking, the country programme manager, Nigeria stability and Reconciliation programme (NSRP), Dr. Ukoha Ukiwo said that Rivers State is the first to opt for technical partnership with the organisation in the area of peace building.
Ukiwo also said that, the NSRP was designed to work with actors and groups already on ground, noting that the institution has helped in the protection of women’s rights as well as helped in poverty reduction across the world.
He said that the partnership will help in sharing ideas on good governance as well as promote better co-ordination on security issues.
