LMC Introduces Rights Document For NPFL Players
The League Management Company (LMC) has said that plans were underway to introduce a rights document for players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The LMC Chairman, Nduka Irabor disclosed this at a pre-season workshop organised for club chairmen and media officers in Abuja on Monday.
He said the document, known as “Know your rights and obligations’’ would help the players to know what their rights are during the period of their contracts with their clubs.
Irabor said time had come when players should know their rights without the help of lawyers or their agents.
“We have commissioned some lawyers to draw up a charter for the players. It is known as ‘Know your rights and obligations’.
“It is a guide for players in the league. We want to let other lawyers as well as clubs to have a look at it before we can circulate it,” the LMC chairman said.
He however said the introduction of the document was not to create division among players and their clubs but to bring about justice and fairness.
“It is not that we want to turn the players into labour unionists. We just want everybody to have a fair treatment for them to give their best.
“I know there are players’ unions and I know there are issues of whether football agents should be allowed or not.
“But this is intended towards solving these issues,” Irabor added.
The workshop is part of the pre-season lectures organised for clubs by the LMC.
The workshops were organised for referees and match commissioners, as well as the medical personnel of the 20 NPFL clubs.
The seminars were geared towards putting the clubs on a sound footing in readiness for the commencement of the 2013/2014 league season expected to kick off on February 21.
Meanwhile, the Super Four Pre-season tournament ended yesterday in Abuja with the 2013 regular season runners-up, Enyimba International of Aba emerging winners with an impeccable record.
The Peoples Elephant as they are fondly called pipped Kano Pillars 1-0 in the last match to top the chart with nine points from three matches, six goals scored in three matches and none conceded.
Warri Wolves finished as runners up with six points after edging Bayelsa United 2-1 yesterday.
The tournament was for the top four finishers in the 2013 Glo League, Kano pillars, Enyimba, Bayelsa United and Warri olves.

PH To Host 2026 NWFL Super Six
In a statement released by the league, the competition is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 14, 2026, with six clubs set to battle for the league title at the end of the 2025/26 season.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, said the choice of Port Harcourt reflects the Rivers State Government’s continued support for women’s football and its successful hosting of the league’s Annual General Assembly last year.
The Super Six tournament will feature the top three teams from Group A and Group B of the regular season competing in a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches over nine days.
Qualified teams for the competition include defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels.
The NWFL Premiership has produced four different winners in the last five editions, with Rivers Angels winning in 2021, Bayelsa Queens claiming the title in 2022 and 2025, Delta Queens triumphing in 2023, and Edo Queens emerging champions in 2024.
The league also urged participating clubs to comply with all competition regulations and directives ahead of the championship. The Super Six will determine Nigeria’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers for a place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League and ultimately the 2027 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup.
Teams are expected to arrive on Friday, June 5, when the draw ceremony and pre-match meeting will also take place. Matchdays are scheduled for June 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14, with rest days in between before the tournament concludes with the trophy presentation ceremony.
