Kaduna Warns Against Late Resumption Of Schools
Kaduna State Government last Thursday warned pupils and students against late resumption of schools, after the three week Christmas and New Year break.
The Commissioner for Education, Malam Ibrahim Ali, gave the warning through his Information Officer; Mrs Jummai Adamu, in Kaduna.
Ali decried the consistent late resumption to schools by some pupils and students, which he said always affect the school calendar and contributes immensely to the fallen standard of education in the state.
He urged parents and guardians to send their children and wards to school on Jan. 6, the resumption date, to avoid punishment or sanctions by the authority.
Ali urged parents to also play their role in the transformation of the education sector.
He advised parents and guardians to endeavour to monitor and evaluate the school work of their children and wards.
Ali said that additional 1,800 teachers were recently recruited by the state government to boost the quality of education in public schools.
He, therefore, reiterated the commitment of the state government towards improving access to quality education.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
