RSNC To Partner Ministry On HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign
The Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, publishers of The
Tide group of Newspapers, has pledged to partner with the Rivers State Ministry
of Information and Communications on HIV/AIDS awareness campaign in the State.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo
made the pledge yesterday during an advocacy visit on the corporation by officials
of the Ministry.
The General Manager who was represented by the acting Editor
of The Tide Newspaper, Mr Valentine Ugboma, assured that the Corporation would
intensify its efforts at creating desired awareness on HIV/AIDS through media
advocacy campaign.
He thanked the Ministry over its commitment towards the
eradication of the deadly scourge of HIV/AIDS in Rivers State, and called for
stronger partnership among stakeholders in this direction.
Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the team, Mr Vincent Needom,
said that the visit was to galvanise the campaign against HIV/AIDS in the
state.
Needom who is also the Coordinator, Ministry of Information
and Communication Critical Mass on HIV/AIDS, said the RSNC was chosen for the
media advocacy because of its credibility and the critical role the Corporation
had played in the campaign over the years.
Needom also pointed out that the visit was essentially
targeted to create awareness among journalists and the entire media family in
the Corporation, and called on reporters to write good features stories that
will sensitise the people on the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
