Commission Restates Commitment To Staff Training
The Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, has restated its commitment to training and retraining Of staff of local government councils in the state.
The Commission’s Chairman, Chief Azubuike Nmerukini said this at the opening ceremony of a three day workshop on “Work Ethics and Organisational Productivity for Local Government staff on grade levels 04-07″ of Rivers South East Senatorial District in Port Harcourt.
Chief Nmerukini said the workshop was to sensitise them on the rules, values and character expected of council staff.
According to him, “the major concern of this training is to create awareness in the staff as regards the civil service ethic in order to improve their productivity”
He expressed hope that the workshop will create new breed of civil servants at the third-tier of government.
“This means that your approach to work should change for the better in line with the theme of this workshop, he said.
Declaring the workshop opened Head of Service, Barrister Samuel T. LongJohn described the workshop as timely considering the stance of the present administration against indolence and corruption and the need to improve productivity to enable government deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
Barrister LongJohn who was represented by Mr Godwin Chinwe said that his office has mapped out a systematic approach to organise regular training and retraining programmes for all categories of staff all year round to keep them abreast of modern trends in service delivery.
