Group Seeks Temporary Shelter For Flood Victims
Following the devastation caused by the recent flood disaster in parts of Rivers State, a non governmental organization, Eunice Development Foundation, has called for the provision of temporary shelters for victims of the disaster in the state
The Foundation President, Apostle David Udo Udo made the call at Ahoada, during the donation of relief materials to victims of the disaster.
Apostle Udo Udo who was represented by Barrister Boma Geoffrey Toby also called for the establishment of permanent relief camps across the centry.
The clergyman argued that victims of the disaster need a programme that will permanently resettle them in their different homes adding that the foundation and the church decided to join hands to cushion the hardship caused by the incident.
He warned against diversion of the relief materials, and charged the leadership to the two camps visited to ensure that everybody is carried along in the sharing of the materials.
The Eunice Development Foundation which was inaugurated last year, has carried out series of humanitarian activities across the country includy the provision of loans to widows, visit to motherless babies homes in the state as well as provision of water borehole to Dukwe Community Cross Rivers State as some of their programmes.
Others include, provision of training facilities to 60 Okada riders in Rivers State, construction of a house for on indigent member of Ukot Edou, Akwa Ibom State, while the group has also planned a visit to schools in rural areas of Rivers State.
Meanwhile the victims at St Paul Camp Ahoada and model school have appreciated the effort of the group urging others to emulate it.
Items donated includes, bags of rice, tubers of yam, toiletries cartons of indomie amongst others.
