Don Harps On Service To Society
A university lecturer, Prof Timothy A.T. Wahua, has identified service to society as a sure route to greatness.
Describing service as the provision of what humanity needs for growth and development, Prof Wahua admonished members of the society who fold their arms and complain of not being given an opportunity to serve to look inward so as to realise their potentials.
Speaking recently after being conferred with the title of Eze Omehia Oha V of Rumu-Ada by His Royal Highness, Eze Anthony Nmehielle, Nyenwe-Eli Rumu-Ada community in Ogbakiri, the Director, Consultancy Service, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt urged youths of the area to shun pride and think of how best they could contribute to the development of the community, stressing that it was by service that the doors of heaven could be opened for divine benevolence.
“Look at Ogbakiri for instance. By the left, we have the sea to exploit. By the right, we have the land to farm. In the food industry alone, we can produce, distribute, market and transport. The City of Port Harcourt is just a stone throw,” he said wondering why others come into the community and become rich overnight while his people continue to search for opportunities, and advised them to have a rethink.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
