Body Assures On Effective Govt Project Monitoring
Co-ordinator of the newly inaugurated Development Watch Network (DWN) Mr Allwell Ogbanga, has reiterated the body’s determination to carry out its responsibilities effectively.
In an exclusive interview with The Tide on Sunday, Ogbanga noted the importance of monitoring and evaluation of development project in Nigeria, saying that “at the end of the day, it enhance the emergence of a transparent and accountable government.”
According to him “we want to ensure that the five-point terms of reference given us by the Rivers State Governor is achieved.”
He stated the other for points of the Terms of Reference as sharing relevant information with government Agencies and the legislature on periodic basis to enhance improvement in the implementation of development project.
Others are collaborating with relevant MDAS and the legislature on issues that could assist in the achievement of DWN objective, as well as determining / identifying project activities in a budget to ensure adequate monitoring.
DWN, he continued, is also required to document and share findings of the monitoring activities with all stakeholders.
It would be recalled that the Rivers State Government had during the recent inauguration of the maiden server man executive of the body charged DWN to be part of governance by impacting positively on policies and advancing initiatives that were exclusively the domains of government and profit – oriented organisations.
Other executive members of the DWN are Princess Jennifer Spiff (Assistant coordinator), Reginald Edozie (Secretary), Sylvia Briggs (Assistant Secretary), Gold Dappa (Financial Secretary), Pastor Phillips Kalio (Treasurer) and Mrs Sogbeba Dokubo (Public Relations Officer).
DWN is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
