Group Canvasses Accountability By Leaders
A socio-political and development-based group known as Total Support Organisation has advocated the need for good governance and accountable leadership in Nigeria.
Secretary of the Organisation, Mr. Micheal Cookey made this known during an interview with The Tide in Port Harcourt.
Mr. Cookey said the challenges of good governance in Nigerian were enormous and demands the contribution of all to foster a system that would be premised on justice, equity and good governance.
According to him, the main objectives of the organisation is to mobilise total support for accountable leadership in the system.
He said the Nigerian political landscape should be opened up for popular participation, and “the only way to make a meaningful breakthrough in the polity is through active participation of the citizenry”.
The body described the development stride of the Rivers State Government under the Governor Chibuike Amaechi’s administration as unprecedented and pledged their support to the Governor towards achieving more for the people of Rivers State.
The body also commended President Goodluck Jonathan over his reforms programmes aimed at putting Nigeria on its rightful path in the comity of nations.
