‘Make Your Lives Models For Future Generations’
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has advised Nigerian statesmen to make their lives models for future generations to emulate.
Governor Amaechi stated this Saturday, during the funeral service for an elder- statesman of the state, late Engr. Johnson Samuel-Horsefall at Our Saviour’s African Church Cathedral, Buguma, headquarters of Asari-Toru local government area.
Late Engr. Samuel-HorsefaIl, father of the former State, Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Pawariso Samuel-HorsefaIl, was one of the founding fathers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, Governor Amaechi enjoined Christians to live for Christ while on earth, adding that, “true Christians would one day translate to the Lord’s bosom where they would die no more”.
Urging Christians to prepare for heaven, he stated that late Pa Johnson Samuel-Horsefall, whose funeral ceremony had attracted a huge crowd, had left a legacy of good life for others to emulate.
The State Chief Executive used the opportunity to reiterate the government’s policy of deploying the resources of the state to scale up critical infrastructure that would benefit all Rivers people and take the state to the next level of development.
He condoled with the family of the deceased, urging them to take solace in the fact that their father, late Pa Samuel-HorsefaIl, lived a good Christian, social, professional and political life
worthy of emulation.
The event was attended by the State Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, Dr Dawari George, his Transport counterpart, Mr. George Tolofai, members of the State House of Assembly representing Bonny, Hon. Aye Pepple, Asari-Toru Constituency 1, Hon. Otelemaba Amachree, and Asari – T oru Constituency 2, Hon. Ibinabo Michael-West.
Other dignitaries present were former Minister of Aviation, Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas, and Chairmen of Asari-Toru and Bonny Local Government Areas, Mr. Ojukaye Flag-Amachree and Mr. Edward Pepple, respectively.
