Court Slams N.1m Bail On Salesman Over Theft
A Sango-Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun last Thursday slammed a N100, 000 bail on a 28-year-old salesman, Isibor Festus, over alleged theft of his employer’s property worth N8,500.
The Magistrate, Mrs Titi Bello, who announced the bail, also granted the accused one surety in like sum.
Bello said the surety, who should be resident within the court’s jurisdiction, should be gainfully employed.
Our correspondent reports that Festus, who lives at No.12, Adeola St., Ifo, near Sango-Ota, is facing a charge of stealing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Rosemary Brown, told the court that the accused, an employee of Justrite Superstores, Ota, committed the offence on November 29 at 7.00 p.m.
She said the accused stole two shirts valued at N5, 000 and a wristwatch valued at N3, 500, property of Justrite Superstores.
The offence, Brown noted, contravened Section 390 (b) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
Further hearing has been adjourned to October 21
