RSNC, UNIPORT Partner On Students Industrial Training
The Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) has pledged to partner with the University of Port Harcourt in boosting students industrial training programme and other activities that would aid knowledge acquisition.
General Manager of RSNC, Mr.Celestine Ogolo made the pledge during an excursion visit of Part III students in the linguistics and communication studies Department of the institution to the corporation on Thursday in Port Harcourt.
He said the corporation would be receptive to all activities of the department as its duty was to serve the public and enlighten the citizenry.
Mr. Ogolo hinted that the corporation was undergoing rejuvenation and would soon be fitted with modern equipment to enhance its activities and aid the students in practical knowledge in their next visit.
The RSNC boss also thanked the Linguistics Students Associate for the gesture demonstrated to appreciate the corporation considering the duration it made to enhance the parastatal.
Earlier in his remarks, a lecturer in the Department and leader of the group, Mr. Afamefuma Asadu thanked the corporation for the warm reception accorded them despite the short notice.
Mr. Asadu said the visit has enriched the knowledge of the students in the area of practical knowledge saying that it would be an annual event.
The same view was expressed by the Part III class leader of the group, Rogers Ogbologugo and the Presdient of Linguistics/Communication Studies Student Association (LCSSA) Julius Akpoviroro who described the excursion as enriching and educating.
Akpoviroro declared that the knowledge gathered, “will energise us to understand the profession of journalism the more”.
One of the female students who spoke to The Tide after the exercise, Evi Oroboha, said it was exiting as she wants to practice print journalism after her studies.
Highlight of the exercise include visits to some of the different departments in the corporation, a special donation of books stationeries to the corporation and group photographs.
