School of Legal Studies Wins CEAPOLY Sports Competition …As Science And Tech Wins Football Category
The School of Legal Studies of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Rumuola, Port Harcourt, CEAPOLY has emerged overall winners of the 2025 sports competition, while the
School of Science and Technology, which are the defending champions, emerged winners again of the Rector’s cup football competition in the male.
At the final match decided at the school field last week,, School of Science and technology defeated school of Engineering 3-2 to win the football category of the competition, while the School of Business and Administrative Studies emerged second runners up
Similarly in the female football category, School of Business and Administrative Studies took the lead while school of Financial Studies and School of Information, Communication and Technology, respectively, emerged first and second runners up
At the end of proceedings, the School of Legal and Global Studies emerged the overall winners of the Polytechnic 2025 Rector’s Cup competition.
According to the medals table made available to newsmen at the end of the one week competition, School of Legal and Global Studies garnered 3 gold and 2 silver , School of Engineering Technology 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze while school of information communication and technology got 1 gold 2 silver and 3 bronze
Similarly, the School of Business and Administrative Studies got 2 gold and 4 bronze, while School of Environmental Technology got 1 gold and 1 silver medal.
Meanwhile, the National President of The Nigerian Teqball Association, Hallim Zaki has hailed the management of the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic( CEAPOLY) for the annual Rector’s cup competition.
Zaki, who spoke to newsmen at the venue of the competition also described the standard of the just concluded competition as very high.
He said the competition has led to the discovery of more talented young men and women who will do well anywhere in the world as far as sports is concerned.
Also speaking, the Director of sports Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Dr Daye Barango described the competition as a big success.
He however said all the lapses noticed this year will be corrected in subsequent editions, while more events will also be included.
Barango thanked the students for their mature behavior throughout the period of the competition, while also commending the Rector of the Polytechnic Dr Moses Neebee for his good works in the institution.

Iwobi Optimistic On S’Eagles Qualification
Iwobi spoke to Tidesports source ahead of Nigeria’s crunch playoff semi-final against Gabon on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.
The 28-year-old was reacting to Nigeria’s shaky World Cup qualifying campaign that saw the Eagles finish second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
“We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead,” Iwobi told Tidesports source.
We know we have the players and the abilities to compete against any other country in the world.”
The Fulham star pointed to Nigeria’s star power, highlighting African Footballer of the Year winners Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen as proof of the squad’s quality.
“We have last year’s African best player (Ademola Lookman), the year before that (Victor Osimhen),” he said.
“It’ll be a shame if we don’t make it, but we have a lot of confidence. We just have to prove it to ourselves.”
Nigeria’s path to the United States, Canada and Mexico has been turbulent, with two coaches departing during the early stages of qualifying before Éric Chelle steadied the ship to steer the Super Eagles into November’s CAF playoffs.
Four nations from the continent – Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo and Gabon – will vie for a solitary spot to compete in next March’s inter-confederation playoffs, with a view to joining the already nine qualified African nations at the Finals.
It would mark Iwobi’s second appearance at the World Cup Finals and the Super Eagles’ first since the 2018 edition of the competition.
Back then, Iwobi featured in all three games as Nigeria was knocked out in the group stage.
