APC Chieftain Hails RSIEC Over Council Polls
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ward 12, Unit 14 in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Hon Keredo Aim Sor has hailed the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), for conducting the freest and fairest local government elections in the State.
He stated that the October 5 local government elections are the most credible elections he has ever experienced in his life time, so peaceful and credible that also people came in en masse to vote for candidates of their choice.
Hon Sor, who is also a member of the Simplified Movement in Khana in Local Government Area said this recently in Gure Town.
According to him, the local government elections were marvellous. He therefore appreciated the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara for showing concern for his people, adding that the people should support the governor because he is a grassroots politician.
“This is the most peaceful and fairest local government elections I have ever experienced in my life time as a politician. “The elections were peaceful and look at how people came out in their numbers to exercise their franchise. “ I want people to support the Governor because he is a grassroots politician. “I appreciate the governor despite that his party did not participate in the elections. We know he is of the PDP. I want to appreciate also all the political parties that participated in the elections because all their agents conducted themselves properly during the elections. “ I also want to commend RSIEC because they were well organised by bringing the elections material on time,’’ he said.
“ RSIEC was also committed to this cause. I wish this kind of elections will repeat itself in the country’’, he intoned, and advised the electorate to also key into the same spirit come 2027 general elections in the country.
“I would want my people to also key into this spirit of humbleness and focus on their responsibilities. It is a very serious thing that we are all happy to welcome,” he stated.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
