Eid-el-Maulud: IG Orders security Beef Up
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has assured Nigerians of a peaceful and secure atmosphere during the upcoming Eid-el-Maulud celebrations.
This is as he said Command Commissioners of Police and their respective Zonal Assistant Inspectors-General of Police have been directed to implement robust security measures.
These include increased patrols on major highways, enhanced security at places of worship, and the monitoring of public gathering points to ensure the safety of everyone.
In a statement released, yesterday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP confirmed that the Nigeria Police Force had strategically deployed personnel and resources nationwide to prevent potential security threats during the festivities.
“The Nigeria Police Force has deployed adequate personnel and resources to strategic locations across the country. This is to ensure the prevention of any security threats and guarantee the safety of all citizens as they celebrate this sacred occasion,” the statement read.
Reaffirming the Force’s dedication to public safety, the statement further noted, “We remain committed to safeguarding the public and preventing crime, both during and after this festive period.”
The IGP extended his warm wishes to the Muslim faithful across the country, praying for a joyful and peaceful celebration.
He also emphasised the importance of collaboration with other security agencies, community leaders, and key stakeholders to ensure a safe and incident-free Eid-el-Maulud.
“We are working closely with sister security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure a seamless and secure celebration across the nation,” the IG stated.
With this proactive approach, the police force aims to ensure that all Nigerians can observe the religious occasion without fear of disruption or insecurity.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
