RSG To Hold Two-Day Workshop For CTC Chairman, Members
In a bid to impove local government administration, the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Prince Charles Beke, says a two-day capacity workshop will be organised for Caretaker Committee (CTC) chairmen and members, including principal staff of councils across the state.
Speaking in his office in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner said the purpose of the briefing was to make the public to be aware of the event billed for Thursday.
The Commissioner stated that the State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, being an advocate of good governance and accountability, upon swearing in the Caretaker Committee chairmen, including principal officers across the State, mandated the Ministry to organise a training workshop for them.
According to him, in the wisdom of the Ministry, the workshop, tagged, “Enhancing Public Governance”, and on the magnanimity of the Governor as a man that believes in the capacity of training and enhancing the potential of civil servants, the training and upgrade of civil servants in the state was mandatory.
He stated that the aim is to keep the caretaker committee and their members abreast with procedures of running effective council administration in line with best practices, in order to reenforce the need for accountability, transparency and physical responsibility.
