AKULGA NULGE Hails Fubara On LGSC’s Appointments

Chairman of the Akuku Toru Local Government Area Branch of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Rivers State, Comrade Okorite Bob-Manuel, has described the appointments of Pastor Ben Goodlife (Chairman) and Mr. Luke Urang (Permanent Secretary) of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission (RSLGSC) as a highly informed decision of the Governor in his bid to have a more vibrant third tier administration in the State.
While also felicitating with Governor Fubara, on his one year in office as Governor of the State, Comrade Bob-Manuel expressed optimism that “the pair of Goodlife and Urang have enviable track record in public service and will love to even improve their service records more, given the importance of the grassroots(rural areas) to the present administration.
He recounted how “Governor Fubara has paid the long overdue N30,000 minimum wage, conduct and implementation of the outcome of the long-delayed promotion exercises for local government workers are a clear indication of how seriously the Governor takes the well being of the third tier”.
As Permanent Secretary, Luke Urang is the fulcrum on which the operations of the Local Government Service Commission revolves and, according to the AKULGA chairman of NULGE,” Mr Urang knows the inner workings of the commission, having served as a Senior Administrative Officer/Special Assistant to the chairman of the Commission (2006-2010), before being posted to Asari-Toru and Ikwerre Local Government Areas but later returned to the same commission as a Director/Special Assistant to the present Acting Chairman and so would serve as a great Permanent Secretary who would ensure the proper functionality of the local government system under the directives of the Acting Chairman in the State”.
Bob-Manuel,who spoke on behalf of his members added that “both Pastor Ben Goodlife and Luke Urang have the confidence of the third tier workers in the council “ and so they are all expectant of better times for council staff in the administration of Governor Fubara.
