Brokers Bemoan Network Failures At Ports
Stakeholders in the clearing industry are lamenting seriously over what they called setback as a result of network failures in Customs Cybers at Apapa, Tin Can Island, and PTML port Commands of Lagos State.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Mr Emmanuel Onyenme, the cyber breakdown started on Monday and is still persisting.
He said many jobs are hanging and accruing demurrage due to the network problem, while agents and their importers are groaning over huge charges from the terminal operators and Shipping companies.
On what the NCS is doing about it, he said the Customs is handicapped as they blame the failure on network Service providers.
It was not clear as at press time, when the problem will be resolved for importers and their agents to exit their goods from the ports.
