Wike Appoints Two Rivers Indigenes As SSAs

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, has appointed Dr. Barivure Fred Kpakol as the Senior Special Assistant on Environment and Waste Management.
The minister also appointed Hon. Michael O. Chinda as the Senior Special Assistant on Land, Urban and Regional Planning.
These were contained in a statement by the Minister’s Director of Press, Anthony Ogunleye.
The statement said that Kpakol’s extensive experience and qualifications make him a valuable addition to the FCT Administration’s dedicated team.
Born on the 26th of May, 1961 in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Kpakol is a highly accomplished individual with a remarkable academic background.
He holds a doctorate degree in Banking and Finance from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Technology Owerri, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.
Kpakol’s career has seen him take on numerous roles of high responsibility, demonstrating his capability and dedication to public service.
Among notable positions he has held include Rivers State Commissioner for Agriculture (2019-2023), Commissioner for Finance (2015-2019), Vice Chairman of the PDP in Rivers South East Senatorial Zone (2013-2015), Executive Chairman of Gokana Local Government and State Secretary of Rivers State Chapter of ALGON, (1999-2002).
The statement said Kpakol’s appointment is a testament to the FCTA’s commitment to addressing environmental issues and waste management challenges in the Federal Capital Territory.
In his new assignment, Kpakol will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the sustainable development and improvement of the environment in the FCT.
Chinda, on the other hand, was born on the 17th of September, 1960, in Rivers State and has a distinguished academic background and a wealth of professional experience.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Technology from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology in 1987 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Port Harcourt in 2004.
Chinda’s career has been marked by a series of notable appointments and responsibilities, reflecting his commitment to public service and his strong qualifications.
He was a Senior Lands Officer at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, where he served from 1989 to 2004, Secretary of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council from 2008 to 2010, and a legislator at the Rivers State House of Assembly (2011-2023).
Chinda is also a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers.
