PAP: Group Dismisses Smear Campaign Against Ndiomu
The Niger Delta Integrity Group (NDIG) has raised the alarm over a smear campaign of calumny that has been launched against the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Major General Barry Ndiomu (Rtd).
The group, in a statement by its Convener, Dr. Boma Horsefall, said the selfish intention of the smear campaign is to undermine the giant reforms at the PAP as instituted by Ndiomu.
They urged those involved to desist, insisting that Ndiomu is focused on his ongoing task to create sustainable livelihoods for ex-agitators and to reposition the Programme for the betterment and economic stability of the Niger Delta Region.
The statement read: “It has come to the notice of the Niger Delta Integrity Group (NDIG) that a smear campaign of calumny has been launched against the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Major General Barry Ndiomu (Rtd).
“The NDIG notes with rapt displeasure, a calculated and unsolicited plot to mislead the general public with an article which was published with the title ” Plot to Replace PAP Boss Through Blackmail of Ijaw, Invitation to Economic Shutdown” as evidently implied, is misleading and baseless.
“While the NDIG urges the naysayers to desist from spreading false theories, we are also not surprised that those behind this latest article are the same people clamouring for Ndiomu’s office.
“It is no longer news that Niger Deltans are entirely elated with what Ndiomu is currently doing at the PAP”.
The group further said: “The NDIG, therefore, urges the entire Management of the PAP to dissociate itself from such school of thought. We call on the people’s General to ignore the noxious purveyors, who are only seeking for cheap attention, and remain focused on consolidating his gains so far in the PAP.
“We also want to urge and appeal to the Federal Government not allow itself to be dragged down to the level of attention seekers who are out to embarrass the integrity and capacity of Ndiomu”.
