NIPOST Seals Illegal Courier, Logistics Operations In Katsina
The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), has sealed offices and impounded some motorcycles when it raided unlicensed and illegal courier and logistics operations in Katsina State.
Mr. Dotun Shonde, the General Manager, Courier and Logistics Regulatory Department (CLRD) of NIPOST, explained that the main goal of the exercise was to sanitise the sector infiltrated by unlicensed and illegal operators nationwide.
“There abound the issue of public safety and security threat due to carriage of illicit drugs and prohibited items like small arms and ammunition, guns, gold, monies and obscene items,” he said.

“There abound the issue of public safety and security threat due to carriage of illicit drugs and prohibited items like small arms and ammunition, guns, gold, monies and obscene items,” he said.
He added that unethical sharp practices like price undercutting, pilfering, broaching, damages, loss and dumping of customers’ items, poaching and subletting of operating licenses were practised, with a mountain of public complaints about customers being duped or obtaining money from them under false pretences, no traceable office address nor registered brand name.
He stated that overloading and carriage of items above the stipulated 50kg has created and increased public disdain towards the profession.
Shonde said more than 200 illegal operators were identified in Katsina alone, stressing that most of them were served with demand notice, but they failed to comply.
He said due process must be followed and the companies registered with NIPOST or face the wrath of the law for those with genuine business intentions.
