Monarch Hails Wike Over Presidential Award
The Onye Ishi Etche, Ochie Emmanuel Opurum, has described the Distinguished Infrastructure Award presented to Governor Nyesom Wike by President Muhammadu Buhari as well deserved.
Opurum said this in an interview with newsmen at his palace in Etche recently.
The monarch stated that there was no iota of doubt Governor Wike merited the Presidential award, given the visible quality projects he has executed in the State.
He said the Governor has spread projects across the 23 Local Government Areas of the state as against the view of selected few who thought projects were only executed within Port Harcourt Metropolis.
“There is no doubt that Governor Nyesom Wike has done very well as far as project execution is concerned. Look at Etche, for instance, from road construction to siting of a branch of the State University, one can boldly say that he has done well”, he said.
According to him, the state Chief Executive Officer has left no stone unturned in an attempt to carry every community along in project execution.
To buttress his point, he said people should be more appreciative of the Governor’s award on the ground that it came from a President of a different political party.
On how to encourage the Mr. Quality Projects, he called on his people and the entire state to always give him the desired support.
He noted that the Governor still has a lot to offer to the people before leaving office in May 2023, hence “the need to rally around him”.
While urging INEC to make room for a free and fair contest, he noted that this will enable the people to vote in credible leaders who will take both the state and Country to a desirable height.
On the part of politicians, he cautioned against what he described as do or die affair as he called on those of full age and capacity to register and get their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to enable them vote candidates of their choice.
