Wike Does Not Hate Ijaw-INC
President General of Ijaw National Congress (INC), Prof. Benjamin Okaba, has dismissed claims in some quarters that the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike loathes the ijaw nationality in the state.
Okaba spoke in a live radio programme,”Point Blank” on Saturday in Port Harcourt, as he described such claims as a blanket and hasty.
He said,” Such claim is heavy. I don’t have sufficient evidence to say Wike hates the ijaws, even though Chief Sara Igbe may have made some observations.”
Okaba continued,” If Wine hates the ijaws, he will not pick an ijaw son to run in PDP. I also know ijaw sons who are close to him.”
The INC president general said the group would not want to fan embers of ethnic hatred but will want to encourage brotherhood among the various ethnic groups.
On whether the INC has endorsed any candidate ahead the guber elections next year, Okaba disclosed that for now the body is still studying the situation, ” INC would want to bring everyone of them to a roundtable for discussion.”
He however added that, “90 per cent of the candidates are from ijaw, so we would need to put ourselves together. We are desirous to have the governor.”
To achieve a common front, he hinted that the INC would set up a committee that “,will works towards a likelihood of ensuring that we don’t dissipate our energies.”
