Guber Aspirant Promises Job Creation, End To Insecurity
The governorship aspirant of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in Rivers State, Engr. Danagogo Opurum Wenike-Briggs, says he will use job creation to fight insecurity in the State, if he emerges as the State Governor in 2023.
Wenike-Briggs made the promise at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt shortly after purchasing his expression and nomination forms at the weekend.
Noting that security can only be achieved in a conducive environment where the people are gainfully employed, he said unemployment contributed to the menace of insecurity in the State, saying it can only be checked by providing gainful employment for the youths.
He disclosed that his nomination form was purchased for him by members of his Non-Governmental Organisation, Community of Reformed Youths Initiatives (CRYI), who want him to aspire for the highest political office in the State.
According to I’m, he decided to heed the call to serve the State in order not to betray the trust and confidence they have in him.
The CRYI State Coordinator, Prince Okul Amos, who spoke via its Legal Adviser, Imiete Akebin, said they were happy that Mr. Wenike-Briggs obliged their request to contest.
Amos expressed optimism that YPP would clinch power in the state next year given its level of preparedness.
The party’s State Chairman, Prince Omangima, also expressed confidence that his party would emerge victorious because of its popularity, adding that the YPP was not perturbed by the long existence of the two major parties in the State.
The Tide reliably gathered that the YPP virtually dragged Wenike-Briggs into the race with a view to fulfilling the mandate of a riverine Governor in the State in 2023.
