The newly promoted Assistant Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Rivers State Command, Mr Abul Tambuwal, has reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to the fight against oil theft, illegal oil bunkering and all forms of illegal dealings in petroleum products in the State.
Tambuwal, who stated this while signing handover notes at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt recently, expressed joy and fulfilment in pursuant of the Corps’ mandate with a renewed vigour.
He explained that the handing over of the Command to the Second in Command (2ic), was in tandem with the directives of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr Ahmed Abubakar, who, he said, is committed to rejig and reposition the agency.
“Sequel to the Commandant General’s directive, being informed by the promotion of some State Commandants to the rank of Assistant Commandant General, I hereby handover the leadership of the NSCDC Rivers State Command to the second in Command, Deputy Commandant Claire Okpo, who will continue the day-to-day running of the Command’s affairs in Acting capacity until a substantive State Commandant is deployed from the National Headquarters”, he said.
He also called on all Officers and men of the Command to give Okpo maximum cooperation as she discharges her duties with courage, fairness and justice.
“I assure you that the fight against vandalism and all acts constituting sabotage to our economy as a nation will continue relentlessly.
“My message to illegal oil dealers and those operating local refineries is that they should desist from such unscrupulous businesses, look for a legitimate venture or face arrest and prosecution by the law”, he said.
Meanwhile, the new Head of NSCDC in the State, Claire Okpo, has assured the people of her determination to go tough against all forms of illegal transactions in petroleum products and national assets in the State.
Okpo further pledged to keep the flag of the Command flying by carrying out sustained intelligence report needed to nip all sorts of crime in the bud.
