2023: Save Nigeria, Oyigbo G17 Tells Wike
A group of Rivers State indigenes from the 17 communities of the Oyigbo State Constituency under the aegis of “Oyigbo G17” has called on the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike to step out to save Nigeria by contesting the position of president in the 2023 general election.
The Convener and driving force of the G17, Hon Promise Nwankwo said this after the maiden meeting of the group, last Saturday in Port Harcourt.
Nwankwo, who is the member representing Oyigbo State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, said the G17 cuts across the 17 autonomous communities making up the Oyigbo Constituency.
He described the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike as “a man with character and candour. One with the required strength, wisdom, connections and requisite knowledge to build the Nigerian state of our dreams”.
According to him, “while yet a governor, Wike towered high above peers, and initiated the processes of nation building reforms in our federation through his well reported legal procedures”.
He further said, “if elected, Nyesom Wike would bring about justice, equity and truth to the federalism Nigeria claims to be practicing now.
“Our conviction as citizens is borne out of the way Wike has governed Rivers State with a sense of sterling dedication to equity, transparency and all-round development of the state.
“What endeared us, and indeed, a wide array of Nigerians to the governor is the stand out pragmatic style of Wike that is mostly carried into the discharge of his duties in ways that leave everyone wondering why we don’t have his likes leading us at the national level”.
Nwankwo used the occasion to also call on the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to look towards this great asset of the party from Rivers State as the presidential flag-bearer for the party in 2023.
He extended his call to other Nigerians to “add their voices to make the glorious coming of Chief Nyesom Wike as Nigerian president a reality in 2023.
“Nigerians cannot afford to get it wrong this time. Nyesom Wike is the man”, he said.
