PAP: Buhari Renews Dikio’s Appointment As IA

President Muhammadu Buhari has renewed the appointment of Col Milland Dikio (rtd) as interim administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) for another one year tenure.
Dikio was first appointed PAP chief in August, 2020.
A statement by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina said despite the challenges, Dikio has been able to “command widespread respect” among Niger Delta stakeholders.
It was gathered that the presidency was impressed with Dikio’s as well as a “positive security report” on him.
Powerful forces had attempted to get the administrator sacked through hawks close to the Presidential Villa and media attacks.
In August, National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd) denied he was in a face-off with Dikio.
Monguno accused unscrupulous elements of stoking confusion, assuring that the amnesty head has his “full support and confidence”.
In September, former militant commanders accused certain persons of sponsoring protests of petitions against Dikio.
Under the auspices of the Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative (LPCDI), they demanded that Dikio be allowed to actualise his plans.
LPCDI, which comprises 95per cent of first phase leaders, said there was a clandestine plot to work against the collective interests of the South-South region and ex-agitators.
In a statement, the President, Reuben Wilson, said the programme has witnessed too many leaderships.
“This has led to the sudden truncation of the plans and projects of the past coordinators and slowed down the pace of implementation of the programme’s mandate.
“The changes led to each coordinator starting afresh with new plans and projects, abandoning those of predecessors. This has greatly hindered PAP’s stability and management”, Wilson complained.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. She urged civil servants across the state to remain supportive of the governor’s administration in order to sustain good governance and effective public service delivery.

Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”

She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. Special appreciation was expressed for the approval of a befitting accommodation complex for Permanent Secretaries, which she said reflects the governor’s commitment to staff welfare and enhanced productivity.

As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
