Youth Body To Work For N’Delta Interest, Progress
The newly elected chairman of Niger Delta Youth Movement, NDYM, Rivers state chapter, Comrade Ernest Obara, has pledged to use all his strength and time to work towards upholding the interest, ensuring progress and promoting the welfare of the Niger Delta region in Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow executive members after a keenly contested election in Port Harcourt saw them emerge as leaders of the Rivers state chapter of the youth movement , last week, Obara also pledged his team’s resolve to uphold the ideals and core objectives of NDYM in the state. He promised to run an all- inclusive administration in synergy with the other Niger Delta State Executives in order to achieve the purpose for which the body was created.
Obara advised youths from the region to always work hard and see themselves as one kith and kin in order to have one voice and unity of purpose in matters concerning the region.
The election, which witnessed an impressive level of peace and orderliness also saw the emergence of Kabolo Michael as Vice Chairman, Opuada Kunu as Secretary, Agbesa Kariso as Assistant Secretary,London Ozioma and George Appiah as Treasurer and Financial Secretary, respectively.
Comrade Prince Iyasara, who was the chairman of the Election Planning Committee in his remarks, commended the peaceful disposition of both the candidates and members of the youth body before, during and after the election. He described the exercise as free, fair and credible. While congratulating the new officers on their victory, Comrade Iyasara charged them to work in unity and within the tenets of the body’s constitution.
Other officers elected on the day include Tamunomama Tamunobelema and Okey Emmanuel, PROs, Igoni Owolabi and Simeon Wali, Provosts, Alfred Uwa, Auditor, Felicity Jackmary, Women Leader, Ajentekebia Harry and Lalokama Dandyson, Organising Secretaries, Orgwu Bright, Publicity Secretary, Gift Hart, Olisamuni Chukwuemeka and Nwikoro Cassius, Ex- Officios and Austin Obi, Press Secretary.
The new Executive was sworn into office by the youth body’s Legal Adviser, Barrister C. I Akpudi, in Port Harcourt.
