CP Identifies Causes Of Insecurity In Delta
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammed Ali, has identified cultism, kidnapping and murder as major security challenges in the state.
CP Ali, who was on a working visit to the Warri Area Command, on Wednesday, noted that the Police and community stakeholders were not doing enough, considering the increase in criminal activities in the area.
Urging community stakeholders to collaborate with operatives, he stated that the Police could not do the task of securing lives and properties alone.
“I have discovered three major crimes are the bane of Delta State. Cultism, kidnappings and murder. For any crime to be fought head-on, we have to collaborate.
“I have seen that this axis has more cultists and kidnappers, which goes to show we are not doing enough. I urge all of you to participate.
“There are internal collaborators with criminals around the various communities and that’s why cultism and kidnappings thrive in the society.
“I urge the traditional rulers, youth leaders and caregivers to collaborate with the Police in the fight against cultism and kidnappings. Deltans should be prepared to work with us,” CP Ali said.
He also warned officers against the misuse of firearms, stating “under my watch, no policeman will kill somebody and say it is accidental discharge.”
The police boss, later accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner of Operations, Sunday Faleye and spokesperson, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, met briefly with journalists at the NUJ Press Centre, Warri, urging them to support the Command.
