COVID-19: Community Leader Commends Wike’s Proactive Measures
A prominent community leader in Ogbunabali in Port Harcourt Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Ogbam Ojimah, has expressed satisfaction with the level of commitment and proactive measures adopted by Governor Nyesom Wike towards ensuring that Rivers State continue to remain safe from the spread of Coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking in an interview recently, Ojimah noted that it was not a contestable fact that the good work of Governor Wike in the prevention of Coronavirus could be ascertained from the result of only one case the state has recorded since the outbreak of the deadly disease.
He further remarked that Rivers State being a Cosmopolitan city after Lagos would have been the next to be engrossed with much number of effected persons, if not for the timely and early intervention measures adopted by vibrant Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, coming up with a statement, banning all social gatherings, closure of market as well as the state boarder.
“However, I will sincerely attribute the magic Rivers State has performed in containing the spread of Coronavirus disease, recording only one case since the pandemic was blown open to the serious commitment and early proactive approach adopted by the State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike”.
“Therefore, I cannot thank Governor Wike enough for his good vision and well taken decision regarding to the closure of boarders because one need not to wait for the Coronavirus pandemic to meet him or her before it will swing into action in closing the boarders.
“Honestly, one need to be alive before complaining or seeking for a better welfare treatment, hence, I can assure you that Governor Wike is more committed in saving lives of her citizen than any other thing”, he emphatically stated.
The elected community leader Ojimah nevertheless seized the opportunity to encourage the good people of Rivers State to bear and comply fully with all State Government directives armed at preventing the coronavirus pandemic to the betterment of all in the State and Nigeria at Large.
“There is no gain saying the fact the spread of Coronavirus pandemic can be defeated if all hands are put on desk to fight the scourge that has no respect for any one irrespective of status”. Ojimah summed up.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
