Monarch Cautions Students Against Violence
Students from the Ikwerre extaction of Rivers State have been warned against the dangers of chasing academic activities with lack- adasical approach, as such would not place them on the best academic corridor.
This was the view of King Leslie N Eke, Nyerisi Eli Woji, when the National Union of Ikwerre Students ( NUIS) paid him a courtesy visit, recently in Woji in Obio/Akpor local government.
The Eze Oha Evo III of Evo kingdom, said that only students who paid prime attention to their studies got to the top of the academic ladder. According to him, education still remained the best form of empowerment and called on the students to always insist on the best in their studies. The Eze Gbakagbaka, pointed out that education sector was the mother of all sectors due to its huge contribution to the development and training of all in the society.
He further warned them that their activities in their differrent campuses must be in consonance with Governor Nyesom Wike’s plans to make the state an academic hub.
The monarch recalled that few years ago, the Rivers State University was ranked the 12th best community university in the world, adding that with the recent attention to education in the state that the university could emerge the best in the globe.
He has also appreciated the students for the award of honour for ‘ Good Examplary Leadership and Peaceful Disposition in Evo Kingdom.
In his response, the President of NUIS, Comrade Princewill Uchenwoh said that they were actually attracted by the monarch’s simplicity and modern approach to issues. Uchenwoh noted that Eze Gbakagbaka was an icon of culture and tradition in Ikwerre land and warned detractors to embrace peace and move the kingdom forward.
