NUJ President Bags Chieftaincy Title
The people of Umukabia in Umuahia, Abia State, last Saturday conferred on one of their own, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) National President, Chris Isiguzo, a chieftaincy title for his numerous contributions to the development of his people and community.
The Tide, in a chat with Isiguzo, shortly after his visit to the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, last Monday, in Port Harcourt, stated that the chieftaincy recognition was as a result of his enormous contributions to the development of his people even before he became the NUJ National President.
He noted that he sees the chieftaincy title as part of ways by people to recognise, appreciate and charge him to do more in order to impact positively on the people..
According to him, “You know it is often said that a prophet is without honour even in his place of birth, but it does appear that we have changed that age-long maxim. My people rolled out the drum and said this is our son in whom we are very well pleased, and they did what they did, and I am so grateful to them.”
Speaking, the National President, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole described the chieftaincy title bestowed on the NUJ National President, Chris Isiguzo, last weekend, as a glorious moment for the NUJ family across the states.
Omowole noted that it was “a good thing to be recognised by your own people for your good works while alive,” noting that it was the reason why the Enugu State Governor, Chief Lawrence Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi organised a banquet in his honour, last Friday, adding that Isiguzo’s performance was worthy of emulation..
