Ex-Commissioner Wants Govt To Do More On Youth Dev
A former Commissioner for Women Affairs in Rivers State, Mrs Joeba West has called on governments at all levels to initiate programmes that will create job opportunities for youths.
Mrs West who said this at the grand finale of the 2018 Divine Icon Music talent hunt grand award in Port Harcourt organised by Wisdom to Wealth Development Foundation said it was the responsibilities of government at all levels to create opportunities for the youths to realize their potentials.
Mrs West also commended the foundation for the annual talent hunt programme, stressing that by so doing, the foundation had distinguished itself as one that is interested in the progress of the youths.
The former commissioner also stressed the need for supports to the organization to enable it continue with the programme of helping Rivers youths to realize their potentials.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of the Wisdom to Wealth Development Foundation, Prince Anyanate Kio said the event was organised by the foundation to enable youths develop their talents.
Prince Kio said the event which started since 2013 had produced several talents.
He said that the Icon Mind Magazine which was unveiled during the ceremony showcased various celebrities in different walks of life.
According to him, the gesture was to motivate upcoming artistes, especially, those who are into gospel music.
Prince Kio also said that his foundation had given interest free loans to market women to improve their businesses.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
