US-Based NGO Gives To Egi Widows
ANon-Governmental Organisation, A Anele Uzondu Nwokoma Foundaiotn (AUNF) based in United States has made cash donation of about thousands of Naira to 32 indigent widows in Egi Clan, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area that were adversely affected by the recent flooding that devastated the council Area.
The widows who were selected by the traditional rulers ( the Oche-Oha) of their town and village cut across Etiti-e and Umu-Obor sub clans of Egiland.
Addressing the widows, the Ez –Egi III (Eze –Ogbaukwu) of Ogbaland, King, Amele Uzondu Nwokoma, said the foundation was a brain child of his children who are in United State, with sole aim to assist less privilege people in the society.
He said, “ it is being coordinated in Nigeria by my wife, Gace, the Ogbuloko-ka-Eqi, whom the children, the initiators of the organization have advised to reach out to those widows whose food crop farms had been destroyed by the flood.
They took the step of assisting these widows because what they read international medias including internet on the effects on them and their lamentations during the period.”
The monarch advised them to make good use of the token believing that it is from young people who believed that every thing that affects Egi man or woman also affect them.
Also the coordinators of the foundation in Nigeria Mrs Grace Nwokoma, (Ogbouloko) urged the beneficiaries to put what happened to them behind with the consolations that God able to assist them.
She urged them to put the children in prayer, so that they would get more resources to sustain the programme, saying that in future, they planned to put together programmes for the widows to make them self reliance.
