Monarchs Warn SPDC Against Claim On Igbo-Etche Land
The Traditional ruler, Chiefs and elders of Igbo-Etche have warned Shell Petroleum Development Company, Corporate Organisations, private land developers and land Agents to stay clear Okwu-Mirieke/Okwu Ngwo Land in Igbo-Etche, In Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State to avoid crises in the peace loving community.
The Odinta Nanya 1 of Echie Ethnic Nationality Eze Ndubuisi Nwankwo issued the warning while addressing media executives in his palace at Chokota recently.
The Eze alleged that SPDC did not own the land, but SPDC only paid bush entry to their late fathers which it now used as legal right to claim the land.
He said, the SPDC’s transactions with their late fathers was illegal.
Eze Nwankwo who spoke onbehalf of the three land-lord communities of Umuogodo, Umoa-Konu and Umuo zue stated that SPDC’s claim of ownership of the land was not the out the outcome of the meeting held between SPDC and the landlord communities.
The traditional ruler alleged that the CFO which SPDC claimed to have obtained in respect of the land was fraudulent obtained.
According to him, Several meetings the three land lord communities held with SPDC in respect of the land, ended in dead locked and wondered why SPDC would claim ownership of the land.
The Eze further urged the public to disregard SPDC’s ratio announcement.
Effort to speak with SPDC’s image maker on the matter, were not successful.
