Robbers Cart Away Two Police AK-47 Rifles In Asaba
Daredevil armed robbers, last Monday, carted away two police Ak-47 rifles after a major ambush on police patrol vehicles of the policemen attached to “C’ Division under the Delta State Police Command, Asaba.
Source revealed that the four-members gang, who waylaid the police team around 8:15 am, were armed with machetes.
Our source disclosed that two of the policemen were severely brutalized by the hoodlums while the rest three escaped during the attack, leaving behind their AK-47 rifles.
The hoodlums made away with two of the AK-47 rifles that were abandoned by the fleeing policemen.
It was, however, learnt that one of the policemen that was attacked later died in the hospital as a result of excess blood loss.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the Delta State Police Commissioner, Muhammad Mustafa confirmed the incident, disclosing that some suspects in connection to the incidents have been arrested and investigations had commenced.
Investigations revealed that this latest attack would bring the number of cases of armed hoodlums attack on police patrol team to three within the space of two months in Asaba, the state capital.
Two AK-47 rifles where reportedly taken in a similar attack at Isse-Asagba, two months ago.
Another attack on a partrol vehicle by hoodlums was experienced at filing station at Ibusa within Asaba capital territory.
