2019: Ararume, Izunaso Set To Dump APC
Indications have emerged that leading governorship aspirant in Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Ararume and immediate past national organising secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Osita Izunaso are set to dump the ruling party for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Both men were at the APGA national headquarters, yesterday for a closed-door meeting with the National Chairman of APGA, Mr Victor Oye in Abuja.
The two politicians are currently engaged in running battle with Governor Rochas Okorocha for the control of APC structure in Imo State.
Though both men left the secretariat without stating their mission, Izunaso told journalists that consultations were still ongoing and that another meeting had been slated for today.
“I can’t talk now. I have already said that after our final meeting, I will talk. I am going to have another meeting on Friday and we will talk after that,” he said.
Although Ararume did not state the outcome of the meeting, it was, however, gathered that the former senator may pick the nomination form of the party today to contest for the Imo governorship seat.
Meanwhile, aspirants seeking APGA’s ticket have besieged the national headquarters of the party in Abuja.
The aspirants, predominantly from Imo, Anambra and Abia states, came to pick nomination forms to contest various positions.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
